SYLLABUS | SPANISH FOUR (SBCC 104) | A.P.
V. Cantrell
This is a year long course which will begin with an intensive review of grammar and vocabulary learned in Spanish 1-3. Although all aspects of language learning will be covered in the course: (listening, speaking, reading, writing), students will be exposed to more reading and writing activities than in previous levels of Spanish study.
The main textbook for the course is Pasajes, which is accompanied by a student workbook. Since college level credit is awarded to students, the class is run as if it were a college course. Students are responsible for much of their own learning and must be able to work independently; monitoring their own progress and dedicating sufficient practice time to improve in weak areas. This practice is above and beyond the time spent completing daily classroom assignments and studying for exams.
Students who complete the full year course with a C or better will receive dual enrollment credit with SBCC. Students who also wish to receive A.P. credit for the course will be expected to take the A.P. exam in May.
CLASSROOM MATERIALS: Students will need to purchase a spiral binder for classroom activities that will be left in the classroom. Students also need a 3-ring binder filled with lined paper to take notes, complete homework assignments, and store hand outs given during the class.
